My New Find; OTTO SHARP

She sings, she plays, she writes. She's unsigned, she's from Kentucky, she wears glasses better than Lisa Loeb. She talks with a southern drawl and sings very nicely.
Curious yet?
Check her out at myspace.com/ottosharp and listen to "Weatherman", the first single from her debut album.
Audio goodness...enjoy.

Tyler Hilton is good people
Tyler is recording his new CD, but that doesn't stop him from performing impromptu elevator concerts. He is just a good guy that is tremendously talented and I hope his new record will do well when it drops.
Here's audio of me singing backups with him at a show in Poughkeepsie. We'd only sung it once before. Click here to listen and/or download, it's at the bottom of the page it takes you to.

PAY FOR PLAY has a whole new meaning

When you run for public office, you better have handed in all your school work on time from 1st grade on, because somebody is going to find out about you. Eliot Spitzer, the governor who, as attorney general cracked down on payola in the music industry, gets himself tangled in a prostitution ring.
A penny for Dave Universal's thoughts right now. Forget the penny, maybe I'll call him and get the direct quote.

Stop writing new stuff NOW
That's what Clive Davis is sort of saying here. Kelly Clarkson made her peace with him, but has she had a change of heart or is she giving in?

The background
Here's a basic bio below about me from my company so I can test things out and begin talking to you.
I don't know who will like my blog or if anyone will find it interesting, but I'll be spewing about things in music, lamenting about my personal life and even sending you on a link hunt for things I find; similar to what I did when I was working in radio. I've been out almost a year and so far, so good.
JIMI JAMM:
Jimi comes to Howard Rosen Promotion with two new perspectives, artist and radio programmer. Jimi started his career as both an air talent at WNYP/Ithaca and recording artist for Buffalo, NY based label, Amherst Records. Jimi released two singles on the Amherst label in 1990 and opened for artists such as Tiffany & Elisa Fiorillo.
After his time as a singer, Jimi didn't want to leave the business and spent the next 18 years working for stations such as: WKSE/Buffalo, KQKQ/Omaha, WDRQ/Detroit and KC101/New Haven. He was recognized several times by the radio industry as a music director, winning 2 Gavin Awards, 1 Network 40 award and a nomination from Bilboard magazine.
Jimi's reputation in the industry grew as someone who championed new music and spread the word about new artists. He's credited with being the first to play Alanis Morissette in the U.S., along with Craig David, Lily Allen & Daniel Powter. In his final 4 years at radio, Jimi hosted his own weekend new music show and, later on, a podcast called Decent Exposure. Jimi programmed WPKF, WBWZ & WRKW in Poughkeepsie to successful ratings for 6 years before switching to the promotion side where he can work even closer to the artists in helping them become successful.
In early 2007, Jimi came to work with Howard Rosen Promotion. He now serves HRP at the Top 40 and Hot AC levels. Jimi's years at radio have introduced him to many other programmers along the way as well as deepen his desire to work hard for the artist.
Jimi also enjoys wearing mirrors on his shoes and riding the subway. (ok, that wasn't part of the bio...just wanted to see if you're awake. )
